Antioxidants, Free Radicals, & Inflammation!
Monday, January 16, 2012 at 7:31AM Most of the chronic degenerative diseases in our country are a result of INFLAMMATION.
These conditions include:
- Heart Disease
- Arthritis
- Fibromyalgia
- Rheumatoid
- Chronic Pain
Inflammation can be triggered by:
- diet (high carbohydrate consumption)
- injury
- extreme exercise
- omega 3 deficiency
- some medications
- FREE RADICALS
I would like to focus on free radicals for the moment. I've heard these guys described as sparks flying around in the body damaging everything they hit. Free radicals are formed by oxidation, in other words, just breathing leads to free radical production. Highly aerobic exercise really produces free radicals. They're basically produced by the same triggers as inflammation.
Hopefully, you can see there is a vicious cycle about to occur here. Inflammation triggers free radical production, which triggers inflammation.
This cycle must be broken to give relief from the damaging effects. The more places we break the cycle, the better. So, what can be done?
- Reduce carbs in the diet
- increase omega 3 intake
- reduce free radicals
How do you reduce free radicals? These guys are squelched by Antioxidants. There are many antioxidants on the market. We use a product that I believe to has the strongest antioxidant effect I know to exist. The product we use is Mona Vie. As I said before though, there are many antioxidants on the market. I like the simplicity of drinking 2 ounces in the morning and 2 ounces in the afternoon and being done. I also like the effectiveness.
