Susan's Story
For Susan Flickinger, leading a
healthy life was not a casual decision. A series of choices and the ability to take control of her life led her to choose a program of supplements and eating that brought her back from the brink of death. Susan thought she was doing just fine. Although overweight and not exercising, she was still feeling okay and was able to ignore the occasional health hiccup. February 2, 2004 was the date when Susanʼs life, at the age of 55, changed forever. She experience her first heart attack, with two more to follow within fi ve months. The doctors inserted 2 large stents after the fi rst attack, but the subsequent heart attacks occurred in April and August of 2004.
“In June of 2005, I thought I was having my fourth heart attack,” Susan recounts. “Tests revealed that I had nonalcoholic cirrhosis of the liver, caused by the cholesterol medication I had taken for only four days! This was serious. “I couldnʼt get well,” she said. “Iʼd go up several steps in my home and pass out. The doctors finally found that I had pericarditis, an inflammation of the sac surrounding the heart.” A rheumatologist wanted to prescribe heavy medications to deal with Susanʼs problems, but she had other ideas. In 2004, Susan had begun working for Dr. Tom Gault at the Gault Wellness Center and had watched people change their lives using an enzymes and health plans designed specifically for them. “I asked the medical doctors to give me six months on Dr. Gaultʼs enzymes and weight loss program,” Susan said. “If it didnʼt work, then I would do whatever they prescribed. “Five months later my liver enzyme test results were all within normal ranges.”
Encouraged by the results, Susan decided it was time to take control of her life. Starting with a Microscopic Live Cell Analysis, Jen Gault, Nutritional Consultant, designed a program of enzymes, supplements and eating that would take Susan down the road to recovery. “I began eating healthy,” Susan says, smiling. “I listened to my body and ate small meals when I was hungry. I didnʼt omit any foods from my diet, except for white sugar and white fl our. I ate smaller portions of everything else. “The more I lost, the more dedicated I became to eating healthy” Susan said. “I had more energy, and consequently my outlook on life improved. I was happy!”
Today Susan is a picture of good health. Monitoring her health through her doctors and the Gault Wellness Center, she is excited and confident about the future. Her liver is still damaged but not getting worse, and Susanʼs wellness program seems to keep it functioning adequately. “The best news came recently,” Susan says. “My cardiologist told me he didnʼt need to see me again for two years!” Although she monitors her health internally, thereʼs no denying the dramatic visible changes. The result of Susanʼs adopted healthy lifestyle is a new look. From a size 24W to a size 10, Susan has lost 65 pounds and envisions losing another 20. Making the decision to take control saved her life. The end result of her improved health is a new and exciting quality of life and, judging from her old photos, a noticeable change in her appearance. “There are so many benefi ts to the personalized program,” Susan explains. “The enzymes and eating program made me healthy, but the change in my appearance motivated me to continue doing what was right for my body. “The Gault Wellness Center provides a plan for total and complete physical, mental and spiritual health,” Susan says. “Itʼs an opportunity to begin a life-changing program toward total health and a sense of well-being with the support, supervision and encouragement of the Gault Wellness Center.”
